Teen Makeup Artist Career Course
So you want to be a makeup artist? Learn professional makeup application, career pathways and gain industry insight! With special guest makeup artist!

This course has been especially designed for students still at high school or that have recently left high school to pursue a career as a makep artist. The 3 day courses teaches the underlying principles in makeup application as well as providing industry insight and information on career pathways including how to get work, where to get work, rates for assistants under 18, work experience and job ettiquette. This course is divided into 12 sessions and includes theory as well as 5-6 hours of practical work. On the 3rd day the students learn all about the industry and job interview preparation including creating a resume.
Each student needs to bring a model on the second day.
Upon completion of this course students receive a certificate of attainment.
Learning Outcomes
1. Creating the perfect canvas
Foundation application, technique and tools, skin types and colour correction.
2. Contouring and highlighting
Face shapes, contouring and highlighting products and tools, photographic work.
3. Eyes
Eye shapes and correcting, how to do a smokey eye, how to apply false lashes, how to do winged eyeliner.
4. Lips
Lip shapes and correcting, colour for effect, how to make lips look bigger, how to apply lip liner, the perfect pout.
5. Eyebrows
Creating the perfect brow, shaping, pencil v powder
6. Practical work
Students will apply makeup according to a brief.
7. Career choices for makeup artists
Opportunities for makeup artists locally and internationally.
8. Career Pathways for makeup artists
Look at the ways in which you can enter the industry and learn the right path to take to become a professional working makeup artist.
9. Work experience and assisting
Requirements for attending unpaid work and what to expect from the person providing the work experience, assisting other makeup artists and what to expect. What you learn and what you can gain from work experience and assisting.
10. Putting together a portfolio
Learn how to create a body of work without spending a cent. Creating an online portfolio
11. Resume preparation and job interview preparation
Create a resume that stands out, prepare for a job interview, product knowledge
12. Job ettiquette and what to look out for
Learn how to behave on set, how to communicate with the photographer and model, what you absolutely should not do. Learn your rights and how to know if the opportunity is legitimate and suitable to your skills and level of experience.
